FISHERY AND FISHING REPORTS
THE FISHERY: CANCUN is known to be primarily a TARPON, SNOOK, JACKS, BARRACUDA, SNAPPERS, LADYFISH & SHARK fishery all year round with best chances at BONEFISH, PERMIT and other species in the summer months:
TARPON in the 10-30lbs. range are available all year round in the lagoons, and larger migratory 80-150lbs. class in the Bays & Reefs in the summer months,
SNOOK in the 5-20lbs. class are often caught on top of the flats & it's ledges, also on the mangrove shorelines & open depressions,, with the winter months being best time for'am;
BONEFISH in the 2-6lbs. class are mostly the size that are found here, but good chances at 8-10 pounders are available also;

PERMIT!!! the always elusive one averaging 6 to 30lbs,
Plus the ¨Non-Glamour¨ species such us Jacks, Snappers, Ladyfish, Barracudas, Sharks and more are plentiful as well. So a chance for fly-fishers or Spinner to hook-up on something is guaranteed.!!!!![]()
THE FISHING NOW; MARCH is the 1st month of the peak season, (March thru August), The fishing is very good now and picking up as the waters temps get warmer, we are mainly targeting TARPON and SNOOK this time of the year. Lots of bait is drawn into the backcountry lagoons and lots of fish is following them, so We are running into good schools of fish, Our customers are constantly landing TARPON'S in the 15-60lbs range, we are also hooking-up on larger ones in the deeper parts of the lagoon, 70-90lbs. fish). but you have to be very patient for those, getting 4 to 6 shots on them in the day is excellent, ( Big ones are around, but not peak time for them yet), The smaller fish is more active and provides more shots, our anglers are getting at least a dozen of shots per day and some days up to 45 shots and best days can be UNREAL, when things are done the right way ANGLERS land lots of fish),
the SNOOK got better with the last cold front, they are being pushed from the deep on to the flats for warmer water. 80% of them are caught sight-fishing in 1 to 3 feet of water. Plus the ones we are targeting along the mangrove shorelines, because of a short cold front from last week, BONEFISH and PERMIT were push off the flats into deeper waters, some big BONES and MITS are already cruising the flats and we are taking some shots at them also, they will pick up as the shallows get warmer, when that happens we will start catching lots of them, the best time of the year for them, (MARCH thru AUGUST are the peak months).

CANCUN FISHING CALENDAR
This CANCUN Fishing Calendar will help you plan your fishing trip during prime time or to see what is biting if you have a chance to go. Fishing times and fishing locations may vary throughout the year, due to weather, tide and food conditions, for example, some periods may offer excellent night fishing for tarpon, but only at night. Shrimps and crabs are mainly night critters and that’s what the fish are eating only sometimes, so we have to follow if want success, Please contact me for specifics and to match your expectations and provide a better charter for you.
